Advancing Regionalized Cohesive Energy Units
Our concept has evolved due to excellent feedback we have recently received. (rev.7/6/2014)
To create regionalized cohesive energy units (CEU) that optimizes and cost effectively combines all available energy resources for a select regional population. The goal is to create a computer generated modeling program that calculates the optimization levels and the combination all of the available resources plus storage to effectively service that region. What sets this above any previous attempts is the recent advancement of chemical energy storage technology. Before the advancements in storage the100 percent renewable energy unit was not cost effective or attainable.
A cohesive energy unit (CEU) can be defined as a source of energy for a regionalized population that utilizes all available sources such as solar, wind, natural gas- fuels cells, hydro, geothermal and waste to energy and all new technologies that would provide the lowest levelized cost of energy (LCOE).
In emerging markets such as regions in Latin America that are outside of the limited national power grid have inefficient or non-existent means of supplying energy to the inhabitants. It is either too costly to extend the national grid or existing energy production is outdated and damaging to the environment. The main drawback of alternative energy is that there was not a cost efficient way to store the energy. This made to overall cost of alternative energy much higher than the current methods. This has stagnated energy production.
Currently I have been doing research in energy storage and solar efficiency. I have been studying various EPC’s, IPP’s and discussing ideas with renewable energy grad students at Arizona State University (ASU). We have also discussed the feasibility of our ideas with accomplished software engineers.
We have concluded that with the steady advancement of technology and the current gains in energy storage there will be a need for a product that is a calculus that analyzes all available renewable energy sources to determine which one or what combination will accomplish the lowest levelized cost of energy based on the available sources of the specific region.

This is just in discussion stage but what I have are several very bright, informed alumni, grad students, students mainly from ASU eager to do a projects. I have a relationship with experienced and exceptional computer programmers that assure me they could create the program. What I am looking for is others that understand these concepts and are interest in participating in a project of this nature. I am basically just floating an idea to see what response I get. If we have interested parties that could in the future provide financial support we will right a position paper supporting our concept.
